Announcing TAVASA: The Transcriptionists and Virtual Assistants of South Africa.

Our aim is the promote the Transcriptionists and Virtual Assistants industry within South Africa
· To guide new Transcriptionists and Virtual Assistants to set up their businesses within the industry.
· We provide transcriptions services and office administration services to clients in South Africa and Abroad.
· Tavasa Forum: This forum offers job leads, contractor positions and interesting information, advice, discussions, tips etc . Subscribe to our forum: http://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/tavasa/
· Tavasa Chat Room, whereby we hold daily chat session, questions and answer discussions.
· Messenger and Skype online communication as required.
· We provide to new Transcriptionists and Virtual Assistants, EBooks on both services to help them start and grow their own businesses.
· We are a place whereby people can meet and give each other support, answer questions and queries relating to the industry.
· We welcome overseas members.
· Membership is free.

Tavasa was formed as there was a need for a support group within South Africa.

Virtual Assistants / Transcriptionists

There is two new buzz words ‘Virtual Assistant’ and ‘Transcription Services’, have you heard it?
The concept is worldwide and slowly spreading in South Africa.

Dictaphone typing used to provided by the Boss recording his documentation into a cassette recorder using a cassette tape and now technology has moved forward, hand held recorders are used and the software is available free from the internet to transcribe the documentation. This service is growing daily and more and more Transcriptionists are offering this service. Attorney’s, Doctors are using Transcriptionists and there is now a lot more companies beginning to realise that they can also use our services.

Virtual Assistants, what are they: This industry is quite big in the USA and Australia and is growing in every country worldwide. VAs, as we are known, work from virtual offices providing office administration, secretarial services to clients, entrepreneurs and business people. Tips for Newbie VAs

Tips:

8th July: If you have confidence in yourself and your ability to do your job this will come through in the way you act with potential clients, clients will see you know what you are talking about. Dont hesitate in conversation with potential clients, this sets in doubt in the clients mind, be firm, be assertive but not too assertive. Know your job inside out. Be proactive with potential clients, dont be afraid to suggest things that can improve the job. Make sure you always produce quality work and provide a quality client service. Be polite, friendly at all times when dealing with clients. Dont let the client treat you as anything other than an equal, you are not a secretary or employee.

1. Keep a few business cards, brochures on you, in your briefcase, in your handbag, shopping bag, car etc as you never know when the need arises to hand a brochure or card to a potential clients you meet. You could be sitting at the doctors waiting and start talking, a good opportunity could be missed if you do not have business cards or brochures on you or with you.

2. One of the best ways to advertise is to attend networking functions. If you can, join some small business groups as they often have coffee mornings, breakfasts and lunches. Attending functions gives you the chance to hand out your business cards and brochures to potential clients. Have a quick 5 minute speech ready, that you know, to tell prospectives 'What a VA is and what we do'. Most people have not heard of our industry and it is up to us to spread the word. Know your speech so that you come across as confident and know what you are talking about.
