Tavasa Chat Room

Tavasa Chat Room (this is another Tavasa First in South Africa).

I (Ali) will be in the Tavasa Chat Room daily from Monday onwards 10am to 11am and from 3pm to 4pm, you are welcome to come and ask any industry related questions you need to know, I will try and answer and if not I will come back to you with an answer. All questions and discussions are welcome in there. www.tavasa.blogspot.com. Find the Chat Room link right at the bottom of the blog, scroll right to the bottom and click on the link.
Its up to you to use the Chat Room, you dont have to wait for me and Gaynor to use it, you can contact a few friends from Tavasa and ask them to join you there for a chat. The Chat Room is set up for you to use as the Tavasa Forum Group.

Virtual Assistants / Transcriptionists

There is two new buzz words ‘Virtual Assistant’ and ‘Transcription Services’, have you heard it?
The concept is worldwide and slowly spreading in South Africa.

Tips for Newbie VAs

Tips:

8th July: If you have confidence in yourself and your ability to do your job this will come through in the way you act with potential clients, clients will see you know what you are talking about. Dont hesitate in conversation with potential clients, this sets in doubt in the clients mind, be firm, be assertive but not too assertive. Know your job inside out. Be proactive with potential clients, dont be afraid to suggest things that can improve the job. Make sure you always produce quality work and provide a quality client service. Be polite, friendly at all times when dealing with clients. Dont let the client treat you as anything other than an equal, you are not a secretary or employee.

1. Keep a few business cards, brochures on you, in your briefcase, in your handbag, shopping bag, car etc as you never know when the need arises to hand a brochure or card to a potential clients you meet. You could be sitting at the doctors waiting and start talking, a good opportunity could be missed if you do not have business cards or brochures on you or with you.

2. One of the best ways to advertise is to attend networking functions. If you can, join some small business groups as they often have coffee mornings, breakfasts and lunches. Attending functions gives you the chance to hand out your business cards and brochures to potential clients. Have a quick 5 minute speech ready, that you know, to tell prospectives 'What a VA is and what we do'. Most people have not heard of our industry and it is up to us to spread the word. Know your speech so that you come across as confident and know what you are talking about.
